A native of Shreveport, Emily Young Feazel began her dance training at the young age of three, studying under Frank Vega and Aaron Girlinghouse of Dance Arts Studio. In 2004, Emily joined the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet under the direction of Kendra Meiki and started training with Shreveport Dance Academy. As a principal dancer for SMB from 2005-2012, Emily danced many roles in ballets such as The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Snow White, Coppelia, and more. In 2010, she danced the lead role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and she originated the role of the Genie in the World Premiere of Aladdin in 2011. She now continues her work with SMB as a board member.
Along with being a member of the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet, Emily was a member of SDA”s competition team, Endeavor, under the direction of Elizabeth Morales. Along with her team mates, Emily won numerous awards at competitions like JUMP, Tremaine, New Talent Generation, and more.
After graduating from LSUS in 2012 with a double major in Art History and Studio Arts, Emily accepted her dream job as Designer of Exhibits and Special Events at the R. W. Norton Art Gallery. She loves working with the collection and bringing new, interesting exhibits and events to the Shreveport area. Emily is the wife of Stephen Feazel and mom to a tornado of a child, Callum, two dogs, Wendy and Toby, and one very moody cat, Chip.
