TEAM SDA

Team SDA dancers are selected through an audition process. Auditions are held annually in the spring/summer.
Team SDA consists of three different performance teams: KREWE of SDA, Team Ignite and Team Intensity.
Team SDA dancers will compete in all genres of dance.
Team Ignite and Team Intensity dancers must enroll in at least one Elite Academy ballet technique class, one Elite Academy jazz class, and one Elite Academy tap class. Team Intensity dancers must also enroll in one Elite Academy modern class and one Elite Academy acro class.
Team SDA will attend competitions/conventions in various cities throughout the dance year.
An additional monthly fee will apply to Team SDA members. This fee will cover team rehearsal fees, choreography, costumes, pictures, convention fees, and competition fees.

KREWE

The audition will consist of a short combination that will be taught at the clinic on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. A video of the combo will be posted to the SDA website as a practice aid for the week. Krewe dancers will not have to demonstrate any specific skills as part of their audition. However, the following will be included in their audition combination.

IGNITE & INTENSITY

The Auditions for Team Ignite and Intensity will be conducted in three age groups:

Dancers ages 7-9 years old
Dancers ages 10-12 years old
Dancers ages 13+

All dancers in the age group will demonstrate the required skills as well as the tap and jazz combinations taught at the clinic on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Dancers will be invited to Team Ignite and Team Intensity based on their demonstration of the required skills and audition combinations. To be invited to Team Intensity, dancers must show mastery of the skills and combinations for their age level.

Ages 7-9:

WHAT TO EXPECT

Application - Dancers should complete the Team SDA application prior to auditioning. Applications can be submitted in person or via email.

Location - Both the audition clinic and the audition will be held at Shreveport Dance Academy - 2537 E 70th St. Shreveport, LA 71105.

Arrive Early - Dancers should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their audition time, to warm up and prepare.

Look Confident - Wear tight fitting workout clothing that will highlight your technique and beautiful lines, when in doubt, all black always looks professional. Hair should be neatly pulled back from the face and tightly secured. Full stage makeup is not required.

Come Prepared - Dancers should have all the necessary supplies to complete the audition, including tap shoes and jazz shoes.
